Custom Carpentry

One of the items that we enjoy building the most at Cohlmeyer Construction is anything custom, especially custom carpentry and trim work. After 30 plus years in the construction industry, I can still say I love the change of transforming a unique space in amazing wood and trim profiles.

Ceiling Planes

Ceiling planes can be almost anything these days, vaulted ceilings, tray ceilings, barrels custom curved packages, and so many more. Each try ceiling plane can make a space feel so unique. The exposed wood of a beamed vault or a tension rod ceiling can open up the space to feel some much more voluminous. Evening just varying the finish material to something like a plank, bead board or coffer can make that ceiling really pop. Tray ceilings add a nice detail especially if you are going to pain the inner tray, add a ceiling fan or rim the room in recessed or puck lighting. A barrel ceiling or custom curved ceiling like these packages at Archways and Ceilings can transform the space or even a range hood.

Moldings and Wainscoting

Baseboards

Vertical walls need love too. Using a baseboard that is about 1/12 the ceiling height is always the go too for selecting a baseboard, but there are so many profiles options.

Above are just a handful or choices. Any good millwork company will be able to provide you would hundreds of options.

Crown Moulding

Detailing a space with crown molding can elevate the design. Like baseboards you can get over loaded with option and profile details. These molding can be combined in a variety of ways to draw your eye to every corner or a room. As long as you hire a good custom carpentry contractor that pays attention to detail.

Wainscoting

Adding these moulding profiles to a vertical wall can make so excellent wainscoting. Chair rails, cove trim, cap moulding, bead board, or just paint grade 1×4 frames can make any room transform into a more formal elegant space.

Firehouse Project Update

We’ve worked hard to transform the Firehouse, originally built in 1867, into modern retail spaces with preserved historical charm. The first stages of construction and renovation focused on making them wired and walled “white boxes” but with as much historical detail as can be preserved. In early 2022 we began detailing the spaces even further in preparation for and catering to the specific new tenants.
